Bulldogs Ambrosia
Meet Rosie, also known as Bullgoddess Ambrosia.
Rosie is one of those Bulldogs who seems to approach life with a simple attitude: Sure, I’ll try it.
Skateboard? Let’s go.
Agility course? Why not?
Something she’s never seen before? She’s probably already investigating it.
Rosie has an incredibly confident, steady temperament. She’s sweet, patient, willing to try new things, and very little seems to rattle her. Of all the wonderful qualities Rosie brings to our program, her temperament may be the one we value most.
Because a Bulldog can be absolutely beautiful—but if the temperament isn’t there, none of the rest matters.

Around our house, we call Rosie an “anchor dog”.
When you have a house full of Bulldogs, personalities can get BIG. But Rosie has this wonderful ability to change the energy of a room simply by being in it.
She’s calm. She’s cool. She’s collected.
When Rosie settles down, the dogs around her tend to settle down too.
That kind of temperament is something we can’t measure on a DNA test or capture perfectly in a photograph, but it’s incredibly valuable to us as breeders. We want beautiful, healthy, functional Bulldogs—but we also want Bulldogs that are wonderful dogs to actually live with.
Rosie is exactly that.
Structurally, Rosie is a little different from some of the more athletic-built Bulldogs in our pack.
She’s our little roly-poly butterball.
Rosie has a thicker, more substantial body with shorter legs and that classic Bulldog appearance, but don’t let her build fool you. This girl can move.
She has clear breathing, excellent airway function, and wonderful exercise and heat tolerance. Whether she’s running around with the rest of our pack, tackling an agility obstacle, or trying her paws at a skateboard, Rosie proves that a thicker Bulldog can still be an active, capable Bulldog.
Maintaining that functionality is extremely important to us.
When Rosie first came to Bullgodz, she weighed approximately 67 pounds.
For her frame, that was simply too much.
Rather than accepting her weight as part of being a Bulldog, we got to work. Rosie began exercising and running with our pack, became much more active in her everyday life, and was kept on a healthy diet appropriate for her needs.
Little by little, the weight came off.
Today Rosie weighs approximately 52 pounds—a 15-pound difference—and she looks and feels fantastic.
Underneath that extra weight was the athletic, capable little Bulldog we knew was there.
And don’t worry…
She’s still a butterball. Just a much healthier one.

Rosie came to us alongside Ozzie and Izzy after their breeder passed away.
Her husband was faced with the incredibly difficult responsibility of deciding what would happen to dogs his wife had loved. A fellow breeder recommended Bullgodz, and after getting to know our family and understanding how our dogs live, he entrusted Ozzie, Izzy, and Rosie to us.
They weren’t coming here to live in kennels or simply become breeding dogs.
They were coming home.
Rosie quickly became part of our family, and today it’s difficult to imagine our pack without her steady presence.
There are plenty of things we love about Rosie.
Her beautiful red-and-white coat. Her thick Bulldog structure. Her clear breathing and athletic ability. Her confidence and willingness to try just about anything.
But ultimately, we keep coming back to one thing:
Her temperament.
Rosie is sweet. She’s patient. She’s confident. She’s stable. And she has that wonderful ability to bring calm into a room full of Bulldogs simply by being herself.
Those are qualities we hope to see passed down to her puppies just as much as any physical trait.
Beautiful Bulldogs are wonderful.
Beautiful Bulldogs with incredible temperaments are what we’re really trying to produce.
Rosie is a daughter of Henry the English Bulldog, making her a half-sister to our boy Zeus.
That connection gives us another opportunity to preserve qualities we value from Henry’s line while seeing how those genetics combine with Rosie’s individual structure and, especially, that incredible temperament.
While Rosie and Zeus share a sire, they each bring their own distinct qualities to the Bullgodz pack.
